Marching Spoofhounds bring home trophies

The Maryville High School Marching Spoofhounds competed at the Carrollton Band Day September 25. The band placed second in the 3A field show competition and fourth in the parade. Special Olympics holds local ‘state’ bocce tournament

When the local Special Olympics team was unable to travel to the Missouri State Special Olympics Bocce Tournament, Organizer Shirley Heideman held a local “state” tournament in Maryville’s Franklin Park. The medals were donated by the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department and two deputies gave out the awards to the Special Olympic athletes.

County’s school libraries receive local book, courtesy of past librarian

Senior center board meets

The Nodaway County Senior Citizens Senate met September 15 to handle the following business for the senior center. The internal audit has been postponed due to personal issues of the committee performing it. The other new committee, the celebration committee will not meet until January. Nodaway Chorale resumes fall rehearsal activities

The Nodaway Chorale Board of Trustees has announced that the group will resume activities launching a fall rehearsal season at 7 pm, Monday, October 4, at First Christian Church, Third and Buchanan Streets, Maryville. Rehearsals, in preparation for a December Holiday Concert, will continue from 7 to 9 pm, each Monday at the same location.

Health Board hears quarantine concerns

The Nodaway County Health Center Board of Directors met September 15 and heard concerns about student quarantines from Maryville R-II parent, Isaiah Korthanke, and Nodaway County Associate Commissioner Chris Burns.
