Special Olympics holds local ‘state’ bocce tournament

In the female singles competition, silver medal winners were Alex Butts and Kristy King; gold medals were awarded to Timberley Armstrong and Eve Cole.

When the local Special Olympics team was unable to travel to the Missouri State Special Olympics Bocce Tournament, Organizer Shirley Heideman held a local “state” tournament in Maryville’s Franklin Park.

The medals were donated by the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department and two deputies gave out the awards to the Special Olympic athletes.
