Maryville Library announces art winners

The Maryville Public Library announced the winners of the 2022 Children’s Art Contest. The children were asked to illustrate a scene from their favorite book. A total of 60 drawings and one shadow box were entered. There were five age categories. All submitted artwork is on display at the library through Wednesday, July 27.

Area schools take part in NTS’ Safety Acres

The Nodaway County Cattlemen’s Association cooked lunch for over 500 third, fourth and fifth graders April 28 and 29 at the Northwest Technical School’s Safety Acres. NEN hires Beatty as PK-12 principal

The Northeast Nodaway R-V School District has hired Heidi Beatty as principal for the 2022-23 school year. Beatty has been the assistant principal for the last year, and prior to that, she taught third grade for nine years. She replaces Jason McDowell who is leaving to serve as principal at Minnie Cline Elementary in Savannah.

Rescue squads receive funding for life-saving equipment

The Nodaway County Commission awarded $74,818.30 of American Rescue Plan Act monies to the rescue squads of the county. The monies will purchase five LUCAS devices for each of the squads in Pickering, Tri-C, Ravenwood, Skidmore and Maryville. The Maryville City Council approved a contract for the 2022 Asphalt Mill and Overlay Project during its April 25 meeting.
