Pickering approves LED lights on highway sign

At the October 7 Pickering City Council meeting, the council approved the replacement of the light bulbs on the highway sign with LEDs. 24th annual Downtown Trick-or-Treat will see Maryville streets close

Just before 5 pm, the Maryville street department will block the downtown square, similar to the closed streets during the Nodaway County Fair. Veterans Yoga Project comes to Maryville

The Veterans Yoga Project will be presented from October 18 to 20 at the Mozingo Lake Recreation Park. The event, slated for 5 to 8:30 pm, Friday, 10 am to 5 pm, Saturday, and 10 am to 5 pm, Sunday, will be held in the multipurpose building in the youth camp area at the park.

County officeholders share their department news

Nine Nodaway County elected officials presented the news from their departments at the quarterly meeting October 1. Sheriff Randy Strong presented a three-page report that spoke to the trainings he and his deputies have attended since the last meeting. Most of the trainings dealt with human trafficking, which is a growing crime across the state.

3rd graders rock kindness at NEN

Northeast Nodaway third graders are rocking kindness. The students have painted colorful rocks with the inscription “NEN Rocks FB.” These have been placed in the Ravenwood and Parnell communities. If someone finds one of the rocks, they are asked to take the time to post about the experience on the class’ Facebook page, “NEN Rocks.”
