North Nodaway Middle and High School has a new Leo Club. The induction ceremony was performed December 19 at the Pickering Community Building. Jefferson National Honor Society members, Maggie Collins, Kali Redden, Andrea Riley, Ethan Holtman, Jenna Mason, Aubrey Mattson and Matt Jermain packaged the books and bears collected by the Jefferson students. The packages include teddy bear notes wishing the recipient well and greetings from Jefferson National Honor Society and The Jefferson Elementary School.

Jeremiah Bragg, Nodaway County Firefighters Association president, accepted $1,138.75 from Melody Blair, owner of Minnie Lane, Maryville recently. She raised funds throughout the holiday season to support the non-profit. There are 13 fire districts in Nodaway County with over 200 firefighters who volunteer.

Mosaic Medical Center – Maryville’s first baby of the new year arrived at 5:34 am, Tuesday, January 3. Dutton was welcomed into the arms of his mother, Dayna Rowen of Sheridan. Dutton weighed eight pounds, 15 ounces and measured 21 inches long. Dayna and Dutton were gifted a basket of goodies supplied by local businesses

Presiding Commissioner Bill Walker called the meeting of the Nodaway County Commission to order 3 at the Commissioner’s Office. In attendance: Walker, Scott Walk, associate commissioner and Melinda Patton, county clerk. Walk made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. The motion passed. Walk made a motion to approve prior commission minutes dated 12/29/22.

Before semester break, Northwest Missouri State University recognized 90 employees who have attained milestone years of service at the university. The cumulative years of service for the recognized employees is 1,200 years. Those employees recognized and their years of service are listed below.
