Raymond Edison Hanna, Maryville, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph. He was 88. Ray was born in Clearmont, on July 15, 1934, to Edison and Bernice Hollensbe Hanna. They preceded him in death. Ray attended the Elm Grove School, then in 1952 graduated from Horace Mann High School
Nate Jeter took over the role of Nodaway-Holt’s high school principal on July 1, with Mike Hollingsworth becoming the district’s superintendent. Jeter graduated from Nodaway-Holt in 2006, and would go on to earn a bachelor’s of science in biology from Peru State College, Peru, NE, as well as his master of science in biology
The Clearmont Baptist Church Vacation Bible School was held June 19-23. The offering collected throughout the week raised over $500 for the West Nodaway Food Pantry. Themed “Finding Jonah” children from preschool through fifth grade had classroom time, craft time and learned the story of Jonah as well as being fishers of men. Junior high

In attendance: Walker and Chris Burns, associate commissioner and Melinda Patton, county clerk. Burns made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. The motion passed. At the Nodaway County Senior Citizens Senate meeting, June 21, Administrator Amie Firavich announced the senior center had a contract with Keller Construction, St. Joseph to mill the parking lot, put a two-inch asphalt overlay, paint the parking stripes and include the alley. The bid is for $80,000 and the parking lot will be completed
The Spoofhound Wrestling Camp, July 27-28, is for all school-aged youth and will be held at Maryville High School. The first day, for children first through sixth grades, will accept registrations from 3:15 to 3:45 with the camp being from 4 to 6 pm. The July 28 will be for youth grades seven through 12.
