AL Post serves breakfast

American Legion Post 100 and Scout Troops 190 and 74 will serve breakfast from 8 am to noon, Sunday, November 5 at the post, 1104 East Fifth Street, Maryville. The menu includes biscuits and gravy, pancakes, eggs, sausage, hash browns, orange juice and coffee. Cost is $9 for adults; ages six and under are $5.

More than 4,500 locations will open to collect Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts for the Samaritan’s Purse project. Volunteers are preparing to collect shoebox gifts during National Collection Week, November 13 – 20. The first 2023 Youth Deer Season was a bit of a challenge with the weather being cold and windy. Ross Doty, seven year old son of Philip and Randa Doty, Maryville, braved the elements and the flu to take this 11-pointer. Ross, who has been hunting for two years, loves to hunt.

All three Nodaway County football teams earned a bye from the first round of playoffs after successful regular seasons, and are now ready to begin a postseason charge. Commissioner’s Minutes October 31, 2023

Presiding Commissioner Bill Walker called the meeting of the Nodaway County Commission to order at the commissioner’s office. In attendance: Walker and Chris Burns, associate commissioners and Melinda Patton, county clerk. Burns made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. The motion passed. Burns made a motion to approve prior commission minutes dated 10/24/23.
