Living a Healthy Life with Diabetes, an evidence-based program designed to teach strategies for managing diabetes, will be offered via zoom through the MU extension. This program consists of six, 2.5 hour classes that will be held from 1 to 3:30 pm. Classes will begin on August 25 and will run through October 6. The
American Legion Post 464 will hold a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 am, Sunday, August 14. The menu is pancakes, sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, juice and coffee. Cost is $8 donation minimum per person. Children six and under are free. Proceeds will go to the Cameron Veterans Home.

For the month of August, the New Nodaway Humane Society will be offering half-price pet adoptions. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip and more. The Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department received a Gladys Rickard Trust Grant for $20,881.71 which was used to purchase a Kawasaki Mule side-by-side. Captain Austin Hann showed the mule to Rickard Trustees Cindy Newbury, Danielle Miller and Katy Gumm.
Maryville’s newest addition to provide summertime cool fun, the Thomson Splash ‘N Play on South Munn Street, has an average of 250 visitors each day.
