The April 6 Municipal Election will have a handful of races with most schools’ board of education having the same number of candidates as openings. Nodaway-Holt seniors, Brilyn DeVers and Shaina Culp, both seniors, were crowned king and queen during Courtwarming, January 19. NH boys and girls basketball teams both won over West Nodaway. The West Nodaway Board of Education announced January 7, the hiring of Tim Harding as the 2021-22 middle and high school principal. Harding grew up on a farm near Ridgeway. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 2000 with a BS in animal science and returned to the family farm for a few years.
Nodaway-Holt SKIP Parent’s committee gifted every elementary student PreSchool through 6th grade a t-shirt the day before school got out for break since they were unable to do their annual movie trip. Northeast Nodaway Senior Cassie Redden collected items for the Cameron’s Veterans Home as one of her projects for National Honor Society. On the last day of collection December 18, Redden showed the wide variety of goods NEN and the community had donated to the veterans. Her grandfather Chuck Redden, a member of the Conception Jct.
Three members of the West Nodaway FFA Chapter were Santa’s elves December 17 delivering 30 frozen turkeys to the Nodaway County Sheriff Department. The turkeys were purchased by an anonymous donor. With what may become a new Christmas tradition, the Northeast Nodaway elementary classes each decorated a tree at the Ravenwood City Park for the drive-through Christmas lights event on December 17. Graham Coffelt receives a bag of reindeer food from Santa to scatter in his yard on Christmas Eve.

The winners of the junior high and high school Christmas attire were Mylie Holtman, seventh; Stephanie Turpin, junior; Sydnee Deen and Chelsea Greer, seniors; and Aubrey Mattson, sophomore.
Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department’s Resource/DARE Officer Rick Smail came to Nodaway-Holt elementary to assist Kristen Roger’s kindergarten class and make a missing persons report for the 13 missing gingerbreads that disappeared. They have been wreaking havoc around the school and making messes leaving clues.
