Pickering Lions inducts first woman as member
The membership of the Pickering Lions Club brought a woman into its membership rolls for the first time on June 12. Gary Vogel, club secretary, far right, welcomed Donna Smith into the club while Donna’s husband, Charles, looked on. The club was chartered in February 1963 with 33 members; the Hopkins Lions served as sponsor.
Africa missionaries visit Maryville Methodists
By Christina Rice Medical missionaries from Zimbabwe visited the Maryville United Methodist Church in June. Dr. Emmanuel Mefor and his wife, Florence, originally from Nigeria, are missionaries with the Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church.
