The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports that 600,000 people die from heart disease each year. Heart disease can be preventable and Community Hospital-Fairfax Family Medicine Clinic wants to help you know your numbers and your risk.

From 6:30 to 9:30 am, Wednesday, March 8, Community Hospital-Fairfax (CH-F) West Nodaway Family Medicine will be offering a free heart screening event at the clinic at 226 West Main, Burlington Jct. Attendees will be offered the opportunity to receive a free cholesterol, blood glucose, blood pressure and body composition check. Glucose, blood pressure and body composition results will be provided immediately while cholesterol results will be mailed within a day of the event.

Understanding your numbers is a key component of calculating heart disease risk. Attendees will have the opportunity to sit down face to face with clinic staff and discuss results and ask questions.

Fasting is required for best results. Attendees are requested to fast for nine to 12 hours prior to attending the event. A light breakfast will be available for those who need to return to work.
