Deputy Austin Hann and K-9 Jerik will hold a live demonstration of narcotic detection skills during the Nodaway County Sheriff’s annual garage sale.
The seventh annual garage sale will be open 9 am to 8 pm, Thursday, August 18 and Friday, August 19; and 9 am to 4 pm, Saturday, August 20, at the American Legion. Hann and Jerik’s live demonstration will begin at 8:45 am, Saturday, August 20.
All proceeds from the sale help pay Jerik’s veterinary bills, buy equipment and fund training sessions for Hann and Jerik. The duo is available to speak at organizations and schools.
This year customers will have the chance to buy raffle tickets to win big items, including a flatscreen TV donated by Andrews-Hann Funeral Home, Grant City, and a leather recliner from Sutherlands. There will be several large pieces of furniture at the sale this year.
On the first day of the sale, shoppers can fill a brown paper Hy-Vee bag for $15. On day two of the sale, shoppers can fill a brown paper bag for $10, and on the last day a filled bag will cost $5.
Items may still be donated. Contact Debbie Easterla at 660.582.9332. Clothing must be on hangers. Easterla has hangers and totes available for donors who need them. They are not accepting computers, printers, electronics, TVs or pianos.
New items will be stocked each night of the sale for a varied selection the next day.
“I believe Deputy Hann and K-9 Jerik are making an impact on the drug problem, and if we help one person change their life for the better, it was all worth it. I can’t say enough about the community and the people who have been so supportive,” said Easterla.
