July 1-31 – Nodaway County Summer Reading Program at the Maryville Public Library, 509 North Main. Library cards for children from birth through sixth grade who reside outside the Maryville city limits will be funded by the Nodaway County Commissioners through the ARPA fund. Prizes are provided with funding from the Maryville Pride Lions Club. Library is open
The annual Parnell Duck Race and Festival is Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10. Events start at 5:30 pm, Saturday. Sunday has the free Show and Shine, the “As American as Cherry Pie” parade, the duck race and many more activities. Bring lawn chairs, the festival is held rain or shine.
The Nodaway County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection site will be open from 8 am to noon, Saturday, July 9. The HHW collection site is located at the Nodaway County Maintenance Barn, 1516 East Halsey Street, Maryville. Brochures are available at the Nodaway County Administration Center and the Regional Council office or online at nwmorcog.org.
The Rolla Dicks American Legion Auxiliary will have hamburgers and hot dogs beginning at 5 and continuing to 7 pm, Friday, July 8 at the Burlington Jct. AL post. Also included with the meal are salad, dessert and drinks. Adults are $10; children five and under are free.
The Nodaway County Federated Republican Women and Men Associates will meet at 11:30 am, Thursday, July 7 at Pizza Ranch, Maryville. The guest speakers will be Alan Bennett who is running for sixth district representative and Nodaway County Commissioner Bill Walker.
The story hour for ages two to six will be 9:45 to 10:45 am, Thursday, July 7 at the Sisson Eck Park on West Lincoln Street, Maryville. Sponsored by the Maryville Public Library, this one-time event will have a Maryville Public Safety officer with a patrol car for the children to look at.
The West Nodaway Food Pantry is open to people living in the West Nodaway school district from 4 to 6 pm, Tuesdays, July 5, 12, 19 and 26 at the First Christian Church, Third and Ballard, Burlington Jct. There is also a food drop at 4:30 pm, Wednesdays, July 13, 20 and 27. There are

The Maryville Market in The Hangar parking lot will be closed Saturday, July 2 for the 4th of July weekend holiday. It will resume 8 am to 1 pm, Saturday, July 9.
