Vacation Bible School is a summertime tradition and the following Nodaway County churches are undertaking the fun and enjoyable way to spread the word of God. • June 5-9 – Graham Union Church “Keepers of the Kingdom” VBS, 5:30 to 7:30 pm. AL holds breakfast
The American Legion Post #528 will hold a freewill donation breakfast from 8 am to noon, Sunday, June 4 at the AL Post in Parnell. The menu includes pancakes, biscuits and gravy, eggs made to order, bacon, sausage, coffee and orange juice.

The West Nodaway FFA Breakfast will be held 8 am to noon, Sunday, June 4 at the Burlington Jct. American Legion Hall. There will be pancakes, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, sausage and scrambled eggs at the freewill donation breakfast.

Memorial Day programs remember their ultimate sacrifice
Several cemeteries in Nodaway County experienced a Memorial Day ceremony provided by Tri-C Memorial American Legion Post 464 members on May 28.
David Bell
David R. Bell, 76, died Monday, May 29, 2023. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville. Mr. Bell served his country as a Navy corpsman during the Vietnam War. There are no services planned at Mr. Bell’s request. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
James Hefner
James Lyle Hefner, 84, Maryville, died Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Maryville Living Center, Maryville. He was born October 26, 1938, in Maitland, to Floyd L. and Gladys K. Wile Hefner. He attended Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, and the University of Kansas. On June 14, 1970, he married Peggy Belle Davenport. Mr. Hefner
