The annual conference of the Silver Haired Legislature took place October 18-20 at the State Capitol in Jefferson City. The 118 delegates in attendance chose their top five priorities and formulated plans to advocate for senior issues during the coming legislative session. A Cowboy Thanksgiving will be from 6:30 to 8 pm, Sunday, November 27 at Wibholm Hall on the fairgrounds in Clarinda, IA. Music will be provided by the Cowboy Church Band, Sarah Davison of High Road, Nashville, TN, and Seth Sneed of The Sneed Family, Glasgow, KY. Admission is free.
A chili and vegetable soup dinner to benefit Kevin Whipple will be from 11 am to 2 pm, Sunday, November 27 at the Pickering Community Building. On August 17, Whipple had a stroke requiring a prolonged hospital stay. All proceeds from the free-will donation dinner will help with expenses while he continues therapy and recovery.
The Hopkins Community Club will sponsor a beef and noodles dinner from 11 am to 1 pm, Sunday, November 27 at the Hopkins Community Building. The menu of homemade beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, salads and drinks is $8 for adults and $3 for children. Proceeds support community projects.
