• October 1Keepin’ it Classy 5K Run/Walk, Maryville R-II High School, 1503 South Munn, Maryville, 6:30 pm. Event honors MHS faculty member April Lawyer who died in 2015 at age 52. • October 25 Distinguished Lecture Series: Dr. Joy Ladin, Charles Johnson Theater, Olive Deluce Fine Arts Building, Northwest, 7:30 pm. Ladin is the Gottesman Chair in English at Yeshiva University and the first openly transgender employee of an Orthodox Jewish institution. Her memoir, “Through the Door of Life: A Jewish Journey Between Genders,” was a finalist for a National Jewish Book Award and she was named to the 2012 Forward 50 list of influential or courageous American Jews.
