Barnard man sentenced in child molestation, sexual abuse case

A Barnard man will serve time in the Missouri Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to child molestation and sexual abuse charges.

Roger W. Westcott, 60, pleaded guilty on November 5 before Judge Roger Prokes in the 4th Circuit Court in Nodaway County. He will serve two years in the DOC on two charges, Class D Felony Child Molestation – 2nd Degree – Previous Conviction, Displayed Deadly Weapon, Serious Injury or Part of a Ritual or Ceremony and Class E Felony Sexual Abuse – 2nd Degree – Aggravated Sexual Offense.

Westcott was charged in May of this year following an investigation by the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department.

Prokes ordered a stay of execution until November 16 when Westcott is to report to the Sheriff’s Department to be transported to the DOC.
