The Maryville High School Spoofhound football team celebrates the 10th straight Highway 71 Showdown win, 42-0, against the Savannah Savages, October 15. The Spoofhounds have won 11 straight against Savannah including one playoff win.
Three area high schools, Jefferson, Maryville and North Nodaway, had students selected for the Northwest All-District Choir sponsored by Northwest Missouri Choral Directors Association. The students will perform at 5 pm, Saturday, October 30 at Platte County High School. Maryville High School has seven students in the all-district choir. They are Cassidy Cline, Emily Pearce,
North Nodaway, Nodaway Valley and Platte Valley Cross Country teams competed September 25 at the 275 Conference meet held in Rock Port. Platte Valley’s Andrea Riley took third in conference and fifth overall.
Nodaway Valley Thunder couldn’t stay ahead of the Mound City Panthers September 24. The final score was 58-14.
The Maryville High School Spoofhound Football team rolled over the Cameron Dragons, 52-0, September 24 at the Hound Pound. A Dragon ball carrier is mobbed by the Hound defense. The defense held Cameron to 38 passing yards, 16 rushing yards and 38 receiving yards.
The Maryville schools’ booster club hosted a full evening of team introductions on the southeast corner of the Maryville downtown square August 26 during the annual community pep rally.
The 2021 Platte Valley football team came to the season ready to play facing their ominous foe of Mound City. It had been nearly a decade since the opening game of the season-winning team was someone other than the Mound City Panthers.
