Maryville R-II school board met August 17 to conduct the following business:

•The district’s assessed evaluation dropped 1.4 percent. The 2016-2017 tax levy was set at $5.0791 per $100 assessed value, dropping approximately a nickel from last year.

•Non-resident tuition was set at $9,800 per student.

•St. Gregory’s will pay $450.28 per student for transportation during the 2016-2017 school year.

•The board approved a 60¢ raise for adult education and literacy program employees.

•Jamie James was one of 13 teachers nominated for the regional teacher of the year award.

•More than 230 chromebooks were added this summer for a total of 1,000 chromebooks district-wide.

•More WiFi system access points are being added.

•Maryville Middle School is one of two schools nationwide testing the new Leader In Me training model.

•The Northwest Technical School added the following curriculum: dementia care certification and hotel/restaurant management. The school has been selected to test a new national curriculum.

The World of Wheels 1966 Ford truck on which technical school students worked was selected for the cover of National LMC Truck Parts magazine.

The following personnel were approved for hire: Jordyn Tieman, elementary lunchroom monitor, Josh Lefeber, middle school head volleyball coach, Amber Longabaugh, middle school assistant volleyball coach, Vanessa Parsons, vocal director for the musical, Jacqui Conn, director for the musical, Jeremy Krug, band director for the musical, and Quentin Albrecht, high school head girls basketball coach.

The following resignations were accepted: Sandy Alexander, high school office manager, Danene Hanes, high school evening custodian, Blake Hardegree, high school assistant baseball coach, and Marcus Grudzinski, high school assistant baseball coach.

The following personnel items were approved at the July 19 meeting:

These individuals were approved for hire: Alisha Degase, early childhood special education, Dustin Henggeler, paraprofessional, Tiffany Propst, paraprofessional, and Sherra Weldon, web page designer.

These resignations were accepted: Charity Strauch, family/consumer science, Matt Houchin, head boys basketball coach, and Dan Ferguson, assistant track coach.

Sara Medsker was reassigned as the family/consumer science teacher. Jacqui Conn and Vanessa Parsons were approved as co-technicians for the performing arts center. Teresa Jacoby and Melba Watkins were renewed as Title I teachers.

The next meeting will be September 21.
