The local Masons will meet at 7:30 pm, Monday, September 5 at the Masonic Lodge on North Main, Maryville.

Hopkins Community Betterment will meet at 6:30 pm, Wednesday, September 7 at the Christian Church meeting room, Hopkins. The church is handicapped accessible on the east side. All interested individuals are invited to attend.

The Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 10 am, Saturday, September 10 at the First United Methodist Church, 102 North Main Street, Maryville. A group photo will be taken first.

Beginning September 10, and continuing at 7 pm each Saturday throughout the fall, First United Methodist Church, Maryville, is offering a worship service in its new gathering space. The space was designed to facilitate interactive worship experiences for people who can’t attend church on Sundays, it is led by Paul Derks, a junior at Northwest.

Businesses, churches, organizations and others can sign up, now through September 20, to hand out candy or other treats at the 21st Annual Downtown Trick or Treat in Maryville. The event is from 5 to 7 pm, Thursday, October 27. The cost is $5 and may be dropped by the Nodaway News Leader, 116 East

The Nodaway County Republican Women will hold a meeting at 11:30 am, Thursday, September 1 at Carson’s Restaurant, Maryville.

Boy Scout Troops 74 and 75 are having an open meeting for boys ages 11-18 or who have completed the fifth grade. The meeting is at 7 pm, Tuesday, August 30 at the First United Methodist Church, 102 North Main Street, Maryville. For more information, contact Nick at 816.390.3965.

The Barnard Depot Museum, Highway M, Barnard, will be open from 1 to 4 pm, Sunday, August 28. The museum is open the last Sunday of each month, May through September. To view the museum at other times or for more information, contact Janet Hawley at 660.652.3587.

The Ravenwood Community Betterment breakfast will be from 8 am to noon on Sunday, August 28 at the Ravenwood Community Building, West Hawk Street. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. The breakfast includes: sausage patties, bacon, hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy, eggs cooked to order, pancakes, coffee and juice. Proceeds go toward community

The Maryville Elks Lodge, 115 North Main Street, will hold an all-vehicle poker run on Saturday, August 27. The 198-mile ride begins at 9 am, with stops at Elks lodges in Creston, Red Oak and Shenandoah, IA. There will be a stop in Tarkio and the ride ends in Maryville. Cost is $20 per hand.
