Students, alumni invited to experience New York City

Northwest Missouri State University students and alumni are invited to join the humanities and social sciences department on a tour of New York City in April 2020.

Dr. Kim Casey, associate professor of political science, and Dr. Jessica Gracey, assistant professor of political science, will host information sessions at 2 pm, Tuesday, April 2, 2 pm, Friday, April 5, and 10 am, Monday, April 8, in Valk Center Room 62.

“Our trip is a five-day comprehensive New York City and Manhattan experience that is applicable to many interests,” Casey said. “It is connected to the course Politics and New York City, in which students can both learn about this unique place and research various aspects of New York City, such as the politics of NYC fashion, the politics of Broadway theater or the politics of NYC sports. The research is really open to any subject matter.”

The tentative tour itinerary includes visits to the United Nations Headquarters, the 9/11 Memorial, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a Broadway show.

All Northwest students and alumni are invited. Interested undergraduate students should enroll in Research Seminar in Political Science: Politics and New York City.

The all-inclusive trip cost is about $2,000, not including lunches, and will last five days and four nights.
