The South Nodaway R-IV Board of Education met in open and closed session on October 17 to handle the following school district business.

After the closed session, the board approved the use of the Launch online program from the Springfield school district as the SN alternative school.

The 2019 senior class trip to Denver, CO, and Estes Park in Colorado was approved with an extension in mileage and duration of the trip.

Superintendent Johnnie Silkett reported the school is still in line to get a cell phone tower on the Guilford Sports Complex property. A bid for $10,500 was accepted from Meyer Fencing and Construction, Maryville, for the construction of the outfield fence at Guilford. The six foot high permanent fence will be 550 feet long and will have a 12 foot double gate. Repairs will also be made to the bull pen fence.

In the athletic co-op with Jefferson, Silkett recommended using the blue and red main colors of both schools, along with the eagle and longhorn mascots as the Platte Valley Athletics. The board approved.

The next meeting is scheduled for 7 pm, Wednesday, November 21.
