Hopkins to have beef and noodles dinner

The Hopkins Community Club will sponsor a Beef and Noodles Dinner from 11 am to 1 pm on Sunday, September 25, at the Hopkins Community Building. The menu of homemade beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, greenbeans, salads and drinks costs $8 for adults and $3 for children. Proceeds support community projects.

Hopkins park receives grants

Hopkins Community Betterment (HCB) recently received grants for city park improvements. Jim Cline and HCB president Donna Spalding accept the $7,000 Gary G. Taylor Charitable Trust grant from Rex Brod, US Bank market president. HCB also received $1,500 from the Dugdale Charitable Trust Fund and $3,500 from the Harry and Helena Messick Charitable Trust. Unruliness ends Pickering council meeting

Mayor Charles Smith ended the Pickering City Council meeting September 19, when the discussion on the farm animal ordinance escalated into foul language and name calling. Local residents chosen as State Fair Farm Family for Nodaway County

The John A. and Beverly Schenkel family, Maryville, were among those honored during the Missouri Farm Family Day, August 15 at the Missouri State Fair.
