The Nodaway Valley Thunder Football Team left Hopkins September 20 with a statement win, beating Platte Valley 58-20 to remain undefeated on the season.
The highly anticipated “Valley” match-up between the two 3-0 teams was dominated from start to finish by Nodaway Valley. They would open the game with two touchdowns on their first two drives of the game. Platte Valley hung around in the opening stages of the game, as Junior Lucky Ferry scored two touchdowns of his own to cut into the Thunder lead. At the beginning of the second quarter, Nodaway Valley led 20-14, and they wouldn’t look back, scoring four straight touchdowns in the quarter to take a commanding 50-14 lead into halftime.
Senior Lane Larabee finished the game with 166 yards passing, and five total touchdowns to lead the way for the Thunder. Larabee’s start to the season has solidified his position as one the best quarterbacks in Missouri 8-Man Football so far this season.
Nodaway Valley will face off against Mound City on September 27 in Burlington Jct for their Homecoming game, followed by back to back games against two undefeated teams in Rock Port and South Holt.
Platte Valley travels to Tarkio to play East Atchison on Thursday, September 26.
