On September 13, the Skidmore City Council voted to have City Attorney Bob Sundell send out nuisance ordinance and parking ordinance violation letters to the owners of seven properties.

City Clerk Laura Stark and Mayor Tracy Shewey are going to find owners’ names, correct addresses and take photos of the violations.

Aflac insurance agent Dennis Abrams discussed Aflac for the city aldermen. The council approved Stark to pay the bill the first month. After the first month, the bills will be sent to each individual’s home.

David Hoyt will be paid $300 to move the city water tank, currently sitting on private property. A level spot will be prepared with three-inch gravel to place the tank. Alderman Rick Allen abstained from the voting.

Stark will be paid $9 per hour while training. The training period is open ended, but the council approved moving her salary to $9.50 per hour when they decide she has completed training.

Stark is planning to become a notary and is looking into acquiring a CDL driver’s license so she can drive the city truck. Shewey is going to add her to the city bank accounts. Stark doesn’t want to sign her own paycheck.

Alderman Tim Slagle asked if special meeting attendance could be used to make up missed regular meetings for which the aldermen are paid. Stark is to contact the Missouri Municipal League to find the answer.

Shewey asked the aldermen to research which streets are in the worst condition and which stormwater tubes need to be flushed. Allen is going to ask the fire department to flush the tubes. Shewey recommended water be taken from the tank which is to be moved.

Weedeating bids have been tabled until next spring. Maintenance Employee Marvin Sumy suggested spraying the cemetery, however, council members did not like the idea.

Sumy will make a list of the cemetery headstones in need of repair and talk to Clinton L. Allen Monuments about the project. The city received a $5,000 grant to use for the project.

An animal permission slip was approved. Citizens who have more or different pets than outlined in ordinance Woof Woof 2014 can complete the form. The city council will then decide on whether or not to approve.
