Northwest to host Native American art exhibit

Northwest Missouri State University will host “Bittersweet Winds,” an art exhibit featuring Native American imagery, Thursday, November 8, as part of Native American History Month activities.

The exhibit will open from 9 am to 5 pm in the Tower View Dining Room at the JW Jones Student Union. It is free and open to the public.

Richie Plass, an elder with the Menomonie and Stockbridge-Munsee tribes from Green Bay, WI, will share the exhibit, which focuses on the discrimination of Native Americans through mascots, television and other areas of the media. He will focus on implicit bias and present other historical data related to Native American history.
