The Northeast Nodaway school board appointed an acting superintendent and addressed other business during its regularly scheduled meeting on November 15.
High School Principal Jason McDowell was named acting superintendent by the board and signed necessary paperwork at the meeting. This move came after the board placed Superintendent Ken Grove on paid administrative leave. McDowell will hold the role as the board looks for a permanent replacement. There is a possibility Grove may be taken off leave, but there is no guarantee and it would not necessarily mean he would retake the superintendent role.
During the meeting, the board voted to approve the 2017-2018 audit.
The board appointed Abbie Groomer as the district’s Foster Care Liason.
Three different programs provided evaluations for the board: Title I, Vocational Agriculture and Professional Development. Each program’s evaluation received approval.
Wick Cummingham was offered a math teacher position for the 2019-20 school year.
Enrollment is at 205, with attendance at 97 percent.
