The West Nodaway volleyball team will work to continue building the program during the 2016 season.

“Last year, we had nine freshmen so we were young and had to concentrate on building the foundation,” Head Coach Jennifer McGinness said. “We didn’t lose any team members due to graduation and I feel like this will help us keep building.”

McGinness took over head coaching duties after being an assistant for two years. She is assisted by Becca Ridnour.

“We are just looking to get some more wins under our belts and gain more confidence on the court,” McGinness said. “I am excited to see what this team can do. These first couple weeks I feel the girls are more pumped up and ready for a great season.”

The Rockets went 2-14 last year with an 0-6 conference record.

McGinness said they will focus on having quick feet, passing, teamwork and attitude.

“We are striving to work as a team and stay positive,” she said. “I love seeing them want this and want to improve.”

Projected impact players include seniors Paige Hagey and Kristine Ecker and junior Alissa Nelson.

The Rockets will take the court at home on August 22 against Clarinda Academy to start the season.
