City Manager Greg McDanel presented the council with five different ordinances regarding zoning changing. The council had previously discussed each of these zoning changes and voted on the finalized ordinances. Property owned by Jason Brown and Roxanne Powell is now zoned as R-2, Single Family Residence Zone; property owned by Maryville Industrial Development Corporation, as a result of annexation, was confirmed as an Ag, Agricultural Zone; property owned by the New Nodaway Humane Society has been rezoned as M-1, Light Industrial District; property owned by Nodaway County has been rezoned as M-1, Light Industrial District; the final property discussed was owned by The Vinardi Trust and it was rezoned as Ag, Agricultural Zone, however McDanel said the area could be rezoned as residential in the future.
The council also passed an ordinance approving the final plat of Ridgeline Estates, a subdivision in Maryville being developed by the Sarah J. Arnold Trust. The subdivision is located east of Country Club/Icon Road and is zoned for R-2, single family zoned residential lot.
The final ordinance approved was a memorandum of understanding with the Maryville R-II School District for the School Resource Officer (SRO) program. This approved the assignment of an SRO to the school district. Maryville Public Safety has held this partnership with the school district for the last 16 years. Public Safety Officer Ian Myers will be assigned to the position for the next year. Myers has held the position in years past and Public Safety Director Keith Wood said he has heard reports from students and teachers that Myers is the right person for the job.
