The Clearmont City Council met July 24 to handle two items of business.

After going into closed session with the topic of personnel and to evaluate water tower cleaning and inspection bids, the council came back into open session.

A motion was made, seconded and approved to hire Michael Wiederholt for the city maintenance worker with the stipulations of a wage of $10 per hour, up to 20 hours per week. He will submit the hours and activity to the city clerk monthly. There will be a 90-day probationary period and will be reviewed at the October council meeting.

It was also authorized by the council to enter into a contract with Utility Services, Pittsburg, KS, to perform the water tower inspection and cleaning for $1,500. Mayor Byron Clark will schedule the service with the firm.

The next regular meeting will be at 7 pm, Monday, August 20.
