The South Nodaway R-IV school district will hold a ground breaking ceremony at 6:30 pm, Wednesday, September 21, at the old school site in Guilford. Grant money from the Rickard Trust has allowed work to begin on the sports complex. It will have a baseball field, track, playground, concession stand, storage and bathrooms, when completed.
Brent Vernon, singer, songwriter, ventriloquist, author and illustrator, will be in concert at 7 pm, Friday, September 23, at the Sheridan United Methodist Church, Third and Noble Streets, Sheridan. An all-you-can-eat fish and chicken fry will be from 5 to 7 pm, Saturday, September 10 at the American Legion Post 100, 1104 East Fifth Street, Maryville. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 11 and under. All proceeds support veteran programs.
The Pickering Lions Club will hold a Motorcycle Poker Run and Steak Fry with check-in at noon, Saturday, September 10. The ride starts at 1 pm from the Pickering Community Building. The meal, which includes steak, potato and salad, and first hand is $20; an extra hand is $5.
The Parnell American Legion Post 528 will hold a fundraiser breakfast from 8 am to noon on Sunday, September 4 at the Legion Hall. Free will donation.
