The New Nodaway Humane Society, 829 South Depot, Maryville, announced new operating hours. They are 1 to 5 pm, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays; 1 to 7 pm, Wednesdays; and Thursdays by appointment only. For more information, call the shelter at 660.562.3333.

NW presents free lecture

Dr. Gregory Smithers will present The Cherokee Diaspora, An Indigenous History of Migration, Resettlement and Identity from 6:30 to 8 pm, Wednesday, November 8 at the Ron Houston Performing Arts Center. Admission is free. The event is hosted by the NW Student Activity Committee and Diversity, Equality and Inclusion office.

AL, Boy Scouts put on breakfast

The American Legion Post 100 and Boy Scout Troop 190 are holding a fundraising breakfast from 8 am to noon, Sunday, November 5 at the AL Post, 1104 East Fifth Street, Maryville. The menu is pancakes, eggs, sausage, orange juice, coffee and milk. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children six and under.
