Every child who brings a life jacket to Dairy Queen, 1912 South Main, Maryville, from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm, Saturday, May 19 will receive a free ice cream cone. The event is to promote boat safety and is sponsored by Maryville Public Safety.

The Burlington Jct. American Legion Post will hold a supper from 5 to 7 pm, Friday, May 11 at the American Legion Building, Burlington Jct. The supper will feature breaded tenderloin sandwiches, potato wedges, salad, drink and dessert. Cost is $8 for adults; children 10 and under are free.

The Maryville Farmers Market will feature health screenings from 7:30 am to noon, Saturday, May 12 at Fourth and Buchanan Streets, Maryville. Featured this month are blood pressure checks by SSM Health St. Francis Hospital and a personal trainer from the Northwest Foster Fitness Center.

American Legion Post 100 is sponsoring an all-you-can-eat fish and chicken fry from 5 to 7 pm, Saturday, May 12 at the Legion Hall, 1104 East Fifth Street, Maryville. Cost is $10 for adults. Proceeds go to support veterans programs.

The Elmo Community Betterment Fish Fry is from 5 to 7 pm, Saturday, May 12 at the Elmo Community Building. In addition to fish there will be fried chicken, potatoes, salads and drink. Cost is $9; children 12 and under are $5. Gift certificates are available. Proceeds go toward community service projects.
