The Burlington Jct. City Council discussed several nuisance complaints during its regular meeting March 13.

Jon and Jill Castillo approached the council with concerns regarding loose dogs that were hanging around their property. Council approved city staff to send Roger and Connie Goff and Steven Goff a letter regarding the city’s policies on loose dogs inside city limits.

City staff will also send a letter to Rodney Cronk addressing the piles of gravel that are blocking the alley.

The individuals that paid for the used solar lamp posts that used to sit on Main Street may pick those up if they are interested. The city has two, new replacement lamps that are for sale. Those interested may make inquiries at city hall.

Memorial plaques will be placed on the flower boxes along Main Street this spring.

The maintenance crew has been working on the parks and the baseball field, sowing grass and getting the areas ready for warmer weather.

It was approved to change the employees’ contract year. In the past, employees were evaluated in March and received contracts in April. The council moved the employee contract renewal date to July to match with the fiscal year.

There was one bid for the city’s pickup truck which the council refused.

Staff will gather estimates on fixing the truck and present them to the council. There was discussion about repairing the truck instead of purchasing a different vehicle.

City staff will be meeting with employees of People Service to discuss the potential of contracting with the company for water and sewer maintenance and street pothole patching within the city instead of hiring maintenance personnel. Information and pricing will then be brought back to the city council for review and approval.

The next regular meeting will be April 10.
