Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nodaway County is ready to host its eighth annual Adopt-A-Family Holiday Gift Drive.
Each year businesses and individuals around the county donate to this event, with gifts going to the families of the matched children. Last year, this drive resulted in 14 donors providing Christmas gifts for 23 families. The organization is hoping for similar success this year.
Shelby Eitel, senior case manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters, reported there are currently 74 active matches in Nodaway County.
Those who would like to help out with the gift drive should contact the organization, which will assign recipients. It is suggested that donors spend approximately $50 on each family member adopted.
The receiving families will create a wishlist of specific items they need. The list is given to Big Brothers Big Sisters, who will pass it along to those who are adopting so the shopping can begin. The organization also accepts monetary donations. There will be a deadline for getting the gifts to the organization, with gifts given to the receiving families in the middle of December.
Those who are interested in adopting a family should report to Big Brothers Big Sisters by October 25 by contacting Eitel at 660.562.7981.
