Fish Fry in Elmo

The Elmo Fish Fry is from 5 to 7 pm, Saturday, August 11 at the Elmo Community Building. Besides fish, there will be fried chicken, potatoes, salads and drink. Cost is $9, children 12 and under are $5. Proceeds go toward community service projects and is sponsored by the Elmo Community Betterment.

A new curriculum will be debuted at Nodaway-Holt Elementary, Maitland, this school year. Principal Shawn Emerson said the school will be shifting from the Treasures reading series to the Wonders reading series. Lettuce Chasers traverse across county

Nineteen teams had fun during the second annual Amazing Lettuce Chase event on July 28. Kara Puche, Debbie Garrett, Jeannie Schmidt and Kyle Garrett brought their singing talent to Good Times Charlie’s in Skidmore to retrieve another clue. The treasure hunt had as its finale a 50s style dinner at the Elks Lodge, Maryville.

Daryl Karsten, 71, Maitland, died Sunday, July 29, 2018. Services were August 2 at Pettijohn and Crawford Family Funeral Service. Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
