Wilson descendants gather for reunion
The family of Quintin Wilson will have their annual reunion Sunday, August 12 in the United Methodist Church fellowship hall, Wilson Street, Guilford. The basket dinner will begin at 12:30 pm.
Fish Fry in Elmo
The Elmo Fish Fry is from 5 to 7 pm, Saturday, August 11 at the Elmo Community Building. Besides fish, there will be fried chicken, potatoes, salads and drink. Cost is $9, children 12 and under are $5. Proceeds go toward community service projects and is sponsored by the Elmo Community Betterment.
Skidmore announces library hours
The library will be open from 10 to 11 am, Saturdays, August 11 and 25 in Newton Hall, Skidmore.
Farmers Market features health screenings
The Maryville Farmers Market will feature health screenings from 7:30 am to noon, Saturday, August 11 at Fourth and Buchanan streets, Maryville. Featured this month is the teaching of hands-only CPR and blood pressure checks by SSM Health – St. Francis Hospital.
BJ AL supper features tacos
The Burlington Jct. American Legion Post will hold a taco night from 5-7 pm, Friday, August 10 at the American Legion Building in Burlington Jct. Proceeds from the taco bar will be donated to help cover medical expenses for Jessica Jones. Cost is $8 for adults, children 10 and under are free.

The Pickering Lions Horse show brought family friendly entertainment including country music, comedy, draft horse pull and other horse show classifications to Pickering, August 2 through 4.
Nodaway-Holt Elementary adopts Wonders
A new curriculum will be debuted at Nodaway-Holt Elementary, Maitland, this school year. Principal Shawn Emerson said the school will be shifting from the Treasures reading series to the Wonders reading series. The school has been operating under the Treasures system for roughly the last decade, and Emerson said the switch to Wonders is centered
Lettuce Chasers traverse across county
Nineteen teams had fun during the second annual Amazing Lettuce Chase event on July 28. Kara Puche, Debbie Garrett, Jeannie Schmidt and Kyle Garrett brought their singing talent to Good Times Charlie’s in Skidmore to retrieve another clue. The treasure hunt had as its finale a 50s style dinner at the Elks Lodge, Maryville.

Daryl Karsten, 71, Maitland, died Sunday, July 29, 2018. Services were August 2 at Pettijohn and Crawford Family Funeral Service. Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
