Hopkins approves license for packaged liquor sales

At the Hopkins City Council meeting on March 6, the aldermen approved two liquor licenses sought by Amy Larson to sell packaged liquor. Two licenses are required, one to sell liquor Monday through Saturday and the other on Sunday. Larson has leased space from the Smoke Shop in Hopkins and plans to sell liquor there.

The American Legion Fourth District meeting will be on Sunday, March 12 at Dick Munkres Post 287 in Savannah. The Four Chaplains Memorial Service and a meal will be at 1:30 pm with the meeting afterward.

Fish fry is in Elmo

The Elmo Fish Fry is from 5 to 7 pm, Saturday, March 11 at the Elmo Community Building. The menu includes fish, fried chicken, jacket fries, lettuce salad, cole slaw and baked beans. Cost is $9. Proceeds go toward the Elmo 4th of July celebration and is sponsored by Elmo Community Betterment.

Wilcox UMC fries chicken, fish

The annual fish and chicken fry will be held from 4:30 to 7 pm, Saturday, March 11 at the Wilcox United Methodist Church. The meal includes all-you-can-eat fish and chicken strips, French fries, salads and drink. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children and free for preschool children.
