Light rain started just as the 23rd Annual Downtown Trick-or-Treat kicked off on October 30. Estimates of trick-or-treaters ranged between 950 hotdogs served at the Maryville Elks to 1,600 glow necklaces distributed by the DARE officers, with outlying areas seeing fewer of the children.

Nodaway County Prosecuting Attorney Robert Rice was entreating children to “say no to drugs, say yes to chocolate” as he treats Josie and Lily Baker, daughters of Matt and Jackie Baker, Barnard.

Rainfall didn’t prevent the Harris family from turning out as the Scooby Gang. In front, the children are Ella, Hadyn, Sofiya and Anson. Behind them are parents Mark and Christy Harris.
