The Greater Maryville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Melanie Smith has notified the board of directors that she has accepted a position with Northwest Missouri State University and will be leaving August 29.
“I have enjoyed my time with chamber immensely and feel like we have accomplished a lot in the past year including increased membership and growth in sponsorship and participation of all of our events,” said Smith. “I have enjoyed meeting so many of our Chamber members and I plan to still be involved with several of the events that the Chamber organizes each year.”
“Melanie has provided a fresh face to all of the Chamber events this past year. From ribbon cuttings for new businesses, helping motivate marathon runners and workers, to overseeing the License Bureau. We have been very blessed to have had Melanie as our executive director for the past year,” said Sean Sheil, Chamber board president. “Melanie has been a great asset for the Greater Maryville Chamber. We will miss her in this capacity and wish her well in all of her future endeavors.”
According to Sheil, the board is committed to making this transition period as seamless as possible for members and will be forming a committee to ensure the timely completion of this goal.
Smith has served as the executive director since August 2013.
