Need a unique, last minute Valentine’s or other holiday gift? Baby, wedding, birthday gift? Want to redecorate your home? Or just a corner of it? Love antiques or re-purposed items?
Stop in and see Teresa Hayes, owner of The Nesting Place at 1911 South Main Street, Maryville. Her eclectic style is in evidence by the abundance of gifts, new and antique items that are available at the shop.
Not hesitant to take bold steps, Hayes is in her second location with less than a year in business. Having opened on South Avenue last spring, she quickly outgrew the location. Then the opportunity presented itself for her to share a building with Shannon Renee’s Formal Wear. The Nesting Place is on the ground floor and Shannon Renee’s is upstairs. A compatible business, excellent traffic flow and visibility and more space has given The Nesting Place a unique venue since the end of September 2013.
The small, cozy spaces highlight the cottage feel of the shop. Small and large delights abound around every corner, with the emphasis on variety and uniqueness. Hayes has always been interested in decorating. After selling her wedding decorating business, Spectacular Settings, she decided to open the shop, to fill the gap in Maryville of a shop to buy gifts and decorating items for the home. She also started doing home staging and in-home decorating.
“I strive to have something for everyone,” explained Hayes. “The Nesting Place has a great gift selection. The shop’s not just antiques, not just new, but items for all tastes and occasions.”
Hayes is always looking for ways to grow her business. When the weather becomes nice, she is going to have her Friday Flea Market outside, which will allow her to bring in additional inventory. She currently sells re-purposed items and is looking at holding classes on re-purposing.
Another line she is selling is from Thailand. The items include jewelry, purses and decorative items, all made in Gethsemane Orphanage, which is run by the Under the Son Ministry and the surrounding villages. The ministry is under the auspices of the Countryside Christian Church, Maryville. All proceeds from the sales go to support the ministry in Thailand.
The Nesting Place is open from 10 am to 5 pm, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; from noon to 4 pm on Saturdays; closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. The phone number is 660.582.0791. Look the store up on Facebook at The Nesting Place.
