Maryville City Council moves ahead with water, energy audit

 Representatives from Schnieder Electric, Kansas City, were present at the April 25 Maryville City Council meeting to discuss their recent findings from a preliminary study of the city’s water and energy conservation.

Their initial findings, an American Water Works Association study, include that the city currently has a water loss rate of 13 percent due to faulty or aged water meters. Of the city’s 4,080 water meters, nearly 2,500 are manual-read and are a variety of brands with some dating back to 20+ years. A meter’s normal life expectancy is closer to 15 years.

With a goal of lowering water loss into single digits, Schnieder Electric requested to conduct an investment grade audit costing $22,500 which would provide a more accurate reading of the city’s problem
