Northwest Medical Center (NMC) broke ground for renovations and improvements for the hospital February 16 with a ceremony to officially kick off construction. This renovation will expand the Albany hospital’s same-day surgery, outpatient and emergency services. Those wielding shovels for the event were: Jon Doolittle, Mark Parman, Serena Naylor, Dixie McGinley, Denise Manion, Bonnie Noble, Jim Combs, Davin Turner, MD, and Brady Dubois. The $7.5 million renovation project was jointly announced in August by Mosaic Life Care and the (NMC) Foundation. Mosaic Life Care has committed $4.5 million to the project with the NMC Foundation providing $3 million. The renovation project is expected to take approximately 18 months to complete. In addition to facility improvements, another $1 million is earmarked from Mosaic Life Care for new equipment including a new CT scanner, X-ray equipment and telemetry at NMC. Once renovations are complete, NMC plans to begin operating under the Mosaic Life Care corporate brand.

The existing entrance to the emergency department will be closed for most of 2018.
