Nodaway-Holt R-VII’s School Board accepted resignations and hired personnel during its regular meeting on March 15.

The school board accepted the resignation of Taylor Blevins, third grade.

The following individuals were approved for hire: Alex Garst, second grade; Katie Falconer, first grade; Loren Messer, high school English, play sponsor, varsity track and sophomore sponsor; Derek Lemon, physical education, sophomore sponsor, junior high football coach and assistant varsity boys basketball; and Robin Lewis, K-12 art.

Superintendent Karma Coleman was named as the school district homeless coordinator.

Maryville Public Safety Officer Ryan Glidden has completed training and distributed trauma kits to each classroom and office in the school district.

The doors on the north side of the gym and the west side of the cafeteria are the only exterior doors that have not been replaced and re-keyed. Maryville Glass and Lock, Maryville, quoted $2,000 to replace each door.

After discussion, it was agreed to gravel the donated lot and use it for parking. Board members were going to ask a community member if he would donate gravel. Board member Scott Clement volunteered to bring his dozer in to complete the necessary dirt work. The goal is to have it completed by graduation.

The prom committee’s budget is $1,500. Currently, they still have more than $1,000 left in the account.

It was approved to raise the salary schedule by $1,000 which raises the base pay to $32,000.

The elementary has been working on STEM projects and hosted a guest speaker from a wind farm company.

There will be a mother/son hoedown from 6 to 9 pm, April 1, at the high school. There will be a DJ, roping, dancing, food and more. Advance tickets are $25 per couple or $30 at the door. To make a reservation, contact Kayla at 816.520.7087.

The DARE graduation for sixth grade will be April 13.

The next board of education meeting will be 5:30 pm, April 13.
