After the events of the past week, it’s safe to say winter is moving in.

For the Missouri Department of Transportation, that means most major construction projects have finished or been put on hold until the weather warms up and our maintenance crews may be pulled away from their planned road projects for inclement weather.

MoDOT reminds the public to stay alert and watch for road work, crews and snow plows on roadways. Many of its winter projects are moving operations, so drivers may not see cones and barrels set up in a lengthy work zone, but they may encounter several trucks in a row with the rear truck directing them to move over around the workers and vehicles ahead.

To see where crews plan to work, motorists should consult the Traveler Information Map at modot.org or download the MoDOT app for their mobile device. The Map and App also give motorists a glimpse at road conditions, traffic congestion and even allows them to view the cameras along major roadways.

As always, for your safety, buckle up and put your phone down, slow down and drive with extreme caution through work zones and in changing weather conditions.
