The Maryville City Council discussed the 2017 asphalt mill and overlay project during its regular meeting on February 13.

The city council has $300,000 budgeted for resurfacing. City Manager Greg McDanel presented a list of recommended streets to the council which included Galaxy Drive, 400 to 600 blocks of North Main, 100 to 400 blocks of South Davis, 100 to 700 blocks of East Edwards, South Saunders from Torrance to East South Avenue, Carefree Drive, South Alco from First Street to West Edwards, South Grand and East South Hills Drive from Younger’s Auction east to the city limits.

Alternate streets included West Sixth Street from Market to Fillmore, Walnut Street to the dead end, West Cooper from Vista Lane to South Alco, Thirteenth Street from Mulberry to Prather and North College from Sixteenth Street to the university.

Michael Baumli, citizen,  addressed the council asking how Northwest Missouri State University’s reduced state funding would impact the city’s budget for the year. According to staff, there would be no impact to the city because the city does not receive taxes from the university.

The council approved revisions to the local industrial pretreatment program to wastewater. The revisions will ensure compliance with new regulations and include new local limits, publication changes for users in significant non-compliance and establishment of best management practices relating to the Maryville Wastewater Treatment Plant.

A new Maryville Public Safety patrol unit dash camera was purchased from WatchGuard Video, Allen, TX, for $5,020. Earlier this year, the city received a grant from MIRMA in the amount of $3,150 for the camera. The remaining $1,870 will be paid from the general fund. Dash cameras are good for seven years before the technology and software requires updating. Each camera is usually used through two patrol car cycles.
