Maryville R-II School Board met September 21 to accept bids and conduct the following business:

•Maryville’s school board members awarded Secoa, Inc., Champlin, MN, the $91,966 bid for the performing arts center (PAC) acoustical shell. Staff have attended trainings on PAC lighting, rigging and sound systems.

•Jeremy Ingraham, Ron Wiederholt and Nick Sherlock built ladder guards for the PAC.

•School administrators are working with area plant managers and North Central Missouri College to offer students industrial training.

•The Maryville R-II Educational Foundation is working on purchasing a piano, wireless microphones, stage monitors and other equipment for the PAC.

•Eugene Field’s PTO plans to buy a flagpole for the school and fund some landscaping.

•Barry Crossland donated a General Motors transmission to the technical school’s auto mechanics class.

The following personnel items were approved during the September 6 meeting:

•Linda Stiens was reassigned as the evening custodian at Maryville High School.

•The following were recommended for employment: Thomas Schwienebart, evening custodian at Eugene Field Elementary School, Ashley Brown, office manager at Maryville High School, and Justin Eiken, middle school assistant football coach.

•The board accepted Greg Coulter’s resignation as a paraprofessional at the middle school and assistant middle school football coach.
