Jefferson C-123 voted to approve a general contractor and conduct the following business during its regular meeting on September 21:

The school board members voted to approve EL Crawford, St. Joseph, as the general contractor for the gymnasium project.

Members discussed adding a second school entrance to use during construction. It was decided to add a temporary entrance on the south side of the playground with the option of making it permanent later.

The board approved adding cheerleading to the sports lineup due to student interest. The coaching position will pay $610.

The PTO created welcome baskets for new district families.

Teacher Jennifer Coburn addressed the school board about her class schedule. She has taught dual credit classes for 15 years, however, due to new state regulations, she may not be allowed to teach dual credit classes next year.

Teacher Charlea Lewis demonstrated the technology she uses in her classroom. All students learn computer programing and how to create video games and program interactive robots.

Discussion was held about bus transportation for Pre-K students as well as the possibility of full-day preschool. The topic was tabled until next year.

The next meeting will be at 7 pm on October 19.
