The City of Skidmore has closed the brush pile effective immediately through the end of July to allow the area to be prepared for the tractor pull during the Punkin Show.

Skidmore Community Betterment will meet at 6 pm, Monday, June 13 at Newton Hall, Skidmore. Interested individuals are invited to attend.
The Midwest Percentage Pony Pullers will be at the fourth annual Pickering Pony Pull featuring miniature horses, starting at 7 pm, Saturday, June 11 at the Pickering Horse Arena. Sponsored by the Pickering Lions Club, the cook shack will start serving at 6 pm.
The Elmo Fish Fry is from 5 to 7 pm, Saturday, June 11 at the Elmo Community Building. Besides fish, there will be fried chicken, potatoes, salads and drink. Cost is $12; children 12 and under are $5. Proceeds go toward community service projects. Sponsored by the Elmo Community Betterment.

The Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) will be hosting Family Fishing Day from 1 until 8 pm, Saturday, June 11. This event is free and open to the public, which will be at the refuge pond, located near the outdoor classroom at the main entrance to the auto tour at Highway 159.
