The New Nodaway Humane Society has announced new hours for summer at the animal shelter, 829 South Depot, Maryville. The shelter will be open from noon to 4 pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays and 3 to 6 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. Appointments may be made to view the animals on Thursdays by calling 660.562.3333.
Memory Cafe will be held from 10 to 11 am, Thursday, June 14 at the Gathering Space, First United Methodist Church, 102 North Main Street, Maryville. The American Legion district meeting will be at 1:30 pm, Sunday, June 10 at the Pony Express Legion Post 359, 2414 South Fourth Street, St. Joseph.
The Elmo Fish Fry is from 5 to 7 pm, Saturday, June 9 at the Elmo Community Building. Besides fish there will be fried chicken, potatoes, salads and drink. Cost is $9, children 12 and under are $5. Proceeds go towards community service projects and is sponsored by the Elmo Community Betterment.
The Burlington Jct. American Legion Post will hold a supper from 5-7 pm, Friday, June 8 at the American Legion Building in Burlington Jct. The supper will feature breaded tenderloin sandwiches, potato wedges, salad, drink and dessert. Cost is $8 for adults, children 10 and under are free.
All-over-town garage sales will be held in Hopkins from 3 to 6 pm, Friday, June 8 and 7 am to 3 pm, Saturday, June 9. In additional Hopkins Community Betterment is sponsoring a flea market and vendor fair along Third Street and in the Hopkins Community Building. Funds obtained will support HCB projects.
